Queen of the South v Aberdeen, Scottish Cup Semi Final

Well, Where do you start with this one? How do you begin to describe the events of the day? Fantastic, unbeleivable, wonderful emotional… you can use all these words, but honestly, if you were not there then it will just be lost on you. You simply had to be there!

As a neutral, I would just like to thank Queen of the South for allowing me to share in one of THE most memorable days I have ever had at Hampden Park.

To do the day credit, and to allow all of the memories of the day to filter through, this blog may take a couple of postings, so bear with me please. But 7 goals and a wonderful win for Queens truly are the thing of dreams and I never for one moment thought that I would end up with a game like this along the Trail.

What has to be mentioned firstly though, was the inevitable call off phone call of the day, something all of you will be familiar with if you have read the blog in the past. True to form, bang on time, i get a call from the Hawkster to say his missus wont be making it. Nothing to do with drinking too much wine the night before, believe me she can usually down as much as the next guy – don’t let those stunning good looks deceive you – no, nothing to do with the drink, sadly, it was due to fact that she decided to spend the night sleeping on the toilet! We all know how uncomfortable that can be, dont we Arlene?. All I can say is, you missed a fabulous day!

Talking of missing a fabulous day, beleive this or beleive it not, is it possible to miss 4 goals whilst waiting on the pies and Bovril. Yes it is, and testement to this is myself and Ian, who decided to miss out on the huge queues at half time and wait until the teams came out for the second half. With the orders for food and drink duly taken from all, we headed down to join a much smaller queue. Smart thinking eh? Well, no not really. By the time we returned to our seats – nice comfy ones thanks to the hawkster – 1-1 had turned into 3-3, by pure luck, and after distributing said grub to all around us, we at least managed to catch the winning goal.

Anyway, need to now cut this short, as I am now heading off into the West End to catch the Man Utd v Arsenal game with my good bud who gave up his ticket for Old Trafford to come up here to be dragged along to a potential non event which was Queen of the South v Aberdeen. Strange how things work out when you just let chance take it’s course??

More to come!

Fiery Jack

well jack you`ve done it again, another cup game that will be talked about for years to come.i`ve not eaten a proper meal since saterday even with the jags winning at brora!cannot believe that the dons did not have the composure or the energy to turn round this game after the first wake up call.listening to the game on the radio on the way up to brora, when dobie was taken off with his injury i had a wry smile to myself “this could change the game” and it did !i now wish he had played on.sorry to hear that you had to put hand in hipper and missed some goals but,you were there.hope the saints can do the same and make it a wake up call to the blazers who hopefully change there views on the ambitions of so called lesser clubs. ps hope arlene is feeling a we bit better.
